About this book

“Should we allow AI?” is the wrong question.

Schools are being asked to decide about AI faster than the evidence arrives. This book argues that the choice is not about what the technology can do. It is about what schools, families and governments decide to do with it.

Drawing on a series of linked research papers, it looks at learning, children’s wellbeing, AI literacy, assessment, entry-level work, teachers, leadership, governance and equity. Every claim is labelled by strength, from established trend to expert projection to speculation, so you can see which parts deserve trust and which deserve scepticism.

It is written for school leaders, teachers, parents and policymakers. The online edition adds interactive tools, a coach for each part, and a search that answers from the book’s own text.

Ask instead: what kind of AI, used how, and checked by whom?
